There is no Linux version of our RBackup Client software.

Our Windows Client will, however, back up Linux files that are available as shares to Windows computers.

NOTE: The Linux RBS Server outlined in this article is currently off the market pending a rewrite to bring it up to date with the current version of the Windows RBS Server and Client. We have not announced a release date for the update.

We have a special version of our Windows RBS Client software that can back up to a standard Unix/BSD/Linux FTP Server instead of our own Windows-based RBS Server software. This special Windows FTP Client is available in quantities of 5,000 Clients and over. It is not available for purchases under 5,000 clients. There is no Evaluation version of the FTP Client software.

This special version of our Client software operates with the Unix FTP server of your choice. We'll give you some instructions for recompiling your Unix FTP Server so it works with our Client software.

There are no pre-built reports, no built-in user maintenance, none of the other features of our Windows RBS Server. You will have to develop any Server-side utilities yourself using Perl or PHP, or your CGI of choice. Logs are written by your FTP Server in standard format, so reporting can be done using any one of a number of log file reporting utilities on the market. Customer maintenance can be done using one of the ISP business packages available.

The look and feel, and the operation of our Windows Client software using a Unix FTP server is identical to how it operates with our standard Windows RBS Server.

We will compile a Unix FTP version of our Client software at no additional charge for orders of 5,000 client licenses and above.

There is no Unix/Linux version of our Client software. Our Client software runs only on Windows. Our RBS Client software will back up Unix/Linux computers that can be seen as a shared resource in a Windows network.
